Film Review: 'Kalki 2898 AD' – A Cinematic Marvel Redefining Indian Cinema

I am in happy tears as I write this review. My expectations for this film were sky-high, and it has surpassed them completely. I'm so thrilled. This film isn't just a movie; it's a portrayal of past events and a glimpse into the future. The introduction alone is the best of the century. For decades, we've dreamed of creating a Mahabharata film, but budget constraints, controversies, and sensitivities held us back. Nag Ashwin, however, has masterfully captured the essence of the Mahabharata, making us feel as if we were there. It's no exaggeration—there are 20-30 minutes of Mahabharata scenes in the film, and the way they are interwoven with the present-day narrative is a testament to the director's brilliance. The story, screenplay, background music, and cast are the crowning jewels of this film.

Speaking of the cast, Shri Amitabh Bachchan shines as Ashwathama. His powerful screen presence is palpable. Prabhas delivers a stellar performance, and the mid-film showdown between Amitabh sir and Prabhas is a highlight. The action scenes are mind-blowing, and the Mahabharata sequences are so well-executed that I'm thrilled just writing about them. Deepika Padukone plays a crucial role and does so marvelously. Kamal Haasan, despite having only 5-10 minutes on screen, makes a significant impact. His transformation is remarkable. The film also features numerous cameos, with Saswata Chatterjee playing the villain excellently. The entire cast nails their roles.

The story of this film is simple yet beautifully and dynamically presented. I don't understand why some reviewers are calling the story weak or below average. I urge them to retire from writing film reviews. This film is essential for us and for children who want to connect with the past. The screenplay is outstanding, and I strongly recommend experiencing this film in theaters. It will revolutionize the Indian Film Industry.

The VFX in this film are unparalleled. They took the time to perfect it, and it shows. This film proves that Indian cinema can excel in VFX. Amitabh sir’s de-aged look is incredibly realistic. You might even compare this film to Hollywood productions. Nag Ashwin, you are an inspiration. Thank you for creating this masterpiece.

I won't give any spoilers, but make sure to stay for the mid-credit scenes. If you are a true cinephile, you won't be disappointed, and don't be swayed by negative reviews. "Kalki 2898 AD" is a crucial film for us. It lays the foundation for what's to come, and I can't wait for the sequel.

I feel unqualified to rate this film because Nag Ashwin has created a world beyond imagination, depicting a future that's astonishingly believable. The message is profound. I eagerly await the sequel. Love you, Amitabh sir.
